Why do I need a coaching package?
We have been taught that we react to pain but once we have registered the pain it is too late, and poor movement patterns are already in place. Just getting you out of pain is not good enough.
I aim to reduce future injuries or wear and tear issues that can be very costly. When movement is corrected the risk of these issues developing is greatly reduced.
Can I book a one-off treatment?
Only an initial consultation so we can decide if it is the right thing for us to work together.
What support will I receive?
As part of the package, you have time built in for emails (max 3 per week) or for What’s app chat.
Do I need to do anything before I come in?
Any special requirements will be emailed to you prior to your appointment. Occasionally there may be some restrictions on activity eating and drinking prior to an appointment so that I can get an accurate and repeatable assessment.
What do I wear for my sessions?
Clothes you feel comfortable moving around in.
Can two people do a package together?
Yes – it is great for partners or parents and children to explore their movement journey together.
What is the science of movement coaching (biomechanics)?
Clinical biomechanics strengthens the links between better research and real-world situations. It looks at all of the body’s systems and how they influence each other.
Using biomarkers and collecting data about you to know when the body is under performing or over working to create your movement issues. Using this information, we can understand which areas need addressing and create a coaching package to suit your needs and aspirations.
What is a BODYMOT?
It is a system designed by Jo Abbott MSC using biomarkers to assess how your body is functioning and not waiting for it to break! The body has optimal ranges and when moving outside of these things can go wrong. It can take some time for ill health or disease to show. in movement terms it may show as continuously getting niggles, soreness, struggling to recover, not sleeping, amongst other things.
What is Core Stability Training?
In MOVEFREELY terms it is the ability to engage your core muscles, thereby creating a brace that stabilises the spine, hips, and shoulders to create a base of support for movement to happen.
What is Clinical Neuromuscular Therapy?
It is a form of massage where after a Movement assessment we can target specific muscles to bringing back function but the magic really happens when its combined alongside the biomechanics and BodyMOT assessment to understand why the tissues are not doing what they are designed for.
What are Corrective exercises?
Exercises that have been chosen to rebalance the joints, nerves and muscles to bring back function. We need to be functioning well before any functional training takes place to minimise relative injury risk.
What is Primitive Reflex Reintegration?
Primitive Reflexes are our first nervous system reflex to allow us to survive in and out of the womb for the first few months of our lives. They should be naturally integrated by the age of three. In certain circumstances Primitive Reflexes may be retained and present as movement/coordination challenges or even learning difficulties. Bum shuffling as a child, not crawling or toe walking are indicators that Primitive Reflexes may not have been given an adequate chance of development. During the consultation we may become aware of an issue and assess whether it is creating movement issues.
What is HeartRate Variability training?
This is an awesome way of helping you understand how your body is performing on a daily basis, using a heart rate monitor and a fantastic app the data collect is invaluable to helping you understand your daily loads and what helps you recover.
What is K tape?
Kinesio taping is a strapping technique that uses a special tape to help with pain and increase lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms wrinkles in the skin increasing interstitial space and allowing for decreased inflammation in affected areas. It can aid recovery and help movement awareness.
What is nutrient support?
High grade support for our joints, nerves and muscles to help ensure correct nutrition at a cellular level plus the aid of essential oils to support your body’s needs.
