I’m Teresa Dixon. I work with people who are stuck in pain, stuck in tension, or stuck in bodies that have stopped feeling like their own.
Some come for hands-on clinical neuromuscular work. Others come for movement coaching through Dr Jo Abbott’s Back Pain Systems™ RESET™ programme. Many come because they’ve tried other things and the pattern keeps returning, and they’re looking for someone who’ll see the whole picture, not just the painful part.
I bring 30 years of clinical experience, multiple specialist qualifications, and an honest, calm, considered approach. My job isn’t to hand you a quick answer. It’s to help you understand your body, work with it instead of against it, and build steadier resilience over time.
My Story
I’ve always been curious about bodies — how they move, how they protect, how they hold the stories of how we’ve lived. That curiosity took me from an HND in Sport Science and Coaching at Nottingham Trent University into a physiotherapy department at Lincoln County Hospital, where I first watched practitioners do real clinical work and knew I’d found something I wanted to be part of.

From there, the journey took shape gradually. I trained as a Sports Therapist in 1996, then through Pilates, Kinesio taping, biomechanics, neuromuscular therapy, and eventually into Dr Jo Abbott’s BodyMOT Systems™ and RESET Coach™ work.
Along the way I’ve worked with people from every walk of life — from local back pain clients to elite athletes. One of the privileges of that career was working with GB Paralympic Dressage Rider Sophie Wells, supporting her preparation for London 2012, where she won team gold and two individual silvers.
Thirteen years ago, my partner John and I moved from the UK to New Zealand. We’ve built a quiet life in the Wairarapa — off-grid, surrounded by our beehives, our vegetable garden, and a dog who thinks the beach belongs to her.

How I Work
The shortest way to describe how I work is this: I treat your body as a system, not a list of parts.
Pain in one place is rarely just about that place. A tight shoulder might be about how your ribs move. Lower back pain might be about how you load your feet. Persistent neck tension might be about how you’re breathing. My job is to look at the whole pattern, not just the place that’s hurting.
Worth saying clearly — I work alongside other healthcare practitioners, not against them. If you’re seeing a physiotherapist, an osteopath, a chiropractor, a GP or any other clinician, that’s good. We’re different parts of the same picture, and the more coordinated your care, the more everyone is working in the same direction. My work complements other care; it doesn’t replace it.
A Trusted Collaboration with Jo Abbot PhD
Alongside my own clinical practice, I work in formal collaboration with Dr Jo Abbott PhD, Clinical Biomechanist, researcher and educator, Founder of Back Pain Systems™ and creator of RESET™.
I’m a New Zealand-based RESET Coach™, supporting people through Dr Jo’s Back Pain Systems™ RESET™ Coaching — a structured 12-week coaching programme for people stuck in the cycle of persistent or recurring back pain.
My role isn’t to redesign or reinterpret RESET™. The RESET™ pathway belongs to Dr Jo and Back Pain Systems™. My role is to help people in New Zealand walk that pathway faithfully — to support you to apply the programme safely, consistently and confidently, alongside any other care you’re receiving.
It’s a collaboration I value deeply. Dr Jo’s research and clinical work are the foundation of everything I support clients with as a RESET Coach™. You can learn more about her work at drjoabbott.com.
When I’m not working
Outside the clinic, my life is gloriously ordinary and gloriously off-grid. My partner John and I live a quiet life in the Wairarapa with our beehives, our vegetable garden, and a dog who treats the beach as her personal kingdom.
Beekeeping has taught me something I didn’t expect: patience with living systems. Bees move on their own rhythm. You can’t rush them. You can only learn to read them. That turns out to be a useful lesson for body work, too.
I keep my own body moving by practising what I coach. Dr Jo’s Back Pain Systems™ programmes are part of my daily life — I use them to maintain my own movement, mobility and resilience. There’s something honest about coaching from a body that’s doing the same work.
